Our services also include training on-site and online, full product support via phone, online, or in-person, on-site consultive services, as well as custom development work, and managed services our cloud-based platform.

MIE Timeline History

Founder and original software developer, David Ferguson was born into the manufacturing family by virtue of his father, owner/operator of a fabrication job shop that is still in operations today. Now, with over 25 years experience, first working in and then writing software for the fabrication industry, David is considered as an expert in the job shop arena. A sought-after speaker, he has consulted with numerous manufacturing companies around the globe, guiding them to become more efficient and cost effective.

 

In the early 80’s, David created and sold his first computer program, Arrow Data Systems, which was a CAD/CAM system for the Apple IIe Computer. In the mid 80’s, after seeing his father come home late at night only to begin the estimating process, David saw an opportunity to automate the estimating process through computer technology … The “Quote It” estimating package was born, becoming one of the leading sheet metal estimating packages in the world. Shortly thereafter, David developed the FabriTRAK Production Control Package and through the years it was licensed to both METALSOFT and Amada America.

 

By the end of 2007 David Ferguson had taken back control of all FabriTRAK licensing agreements, completely re-wrote its production control offering and launched MIE Trak Pro (a state-of-the-art ERP system that is ideal for manufacturing businesses, with modules designed to accommodate most production cycles and optimize the capabilities of repetitive, custom, quick-turn and mixed mode operations) and, together with Don Clutter launched MIE Solutions.

 

Since its inception MIE Solutions has grown over 500 percent and, in addition to having North America sales and support locations, has offices in Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, and United Kingdom.

David Ferguson has over 20 years of experience in the manufacturing and fabrication industry. David Ferguson has been to over 100 manufacturing companies helping and guiding them to be more efficient and cost effective. Prior to founding MIE Solutions David Ferguson worked with his father at Alco Sheet Metal, METALSOFT Inc. and was a consultant at Toyota Motors Sales. David Ferguson has his Masters in Computer Science and Mathematics from California State University, Long Beach.

Don Clutter has over 34 years of experience in finance and management in the manufacturing arena. Don worked for Stokely Van Camp, CE Beaumont (a division of Combustion Engineering), was Controller of Houston Processors, was Corporate Controller of All American Gourmet (a $700 million division of Kraft Foods), and was CFO of VSI Fasteners. Don Clutter has a BS in Business Management from Indiana University and an MBA from Butler University in Indianapolis. He has a background in Finance and Cost Accounting.

We require all sales persons, to be honest, tell the truth about what they sell without implying products or services which do not exist. Integrity before, during and after the sales process without compromising the truth.
